Local 110 Office Update – COVID-19

Good day Union Family Members,

On March 17, 2020 the Province of Alberta declared a public heath emergency under the Public Health Act. This has resulted in new recommendations to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. To find out more visit https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx

Currently Local 110 is able to stay open, but we will be taking additional steps to ensure the health of our Members, Staff and Officers. The office will continue with wipe downs of all touch point surfaces. Staff are segregated into individual offices to increase social distancing. Starting tomorrow, Thursday March 19, 2020 our office will be closed to the Public as well as Members. The Staff and Officers will continue to be at work and will conduct business through phone calls and emails. If it is absolutely necessary for you to come to the Union office during this time you will be required to make an appointment by calling (780) 426-2874.

The Business Agents and I can be contacted at the Union office at (780) 426-2874 or by email;

Business Manager: Kevin Lecht                                kevinl@insulators110.com

Northern Business Agent: Doug Casemore            dougc@insulators110.com

Southern Business Agent: Derek Stock                   dereks@insulators110.com

Central Business Agent: Stacy Edmondson            stacye@insulators110.com

I understand that this is an increasingly stressful time. A large number of our members are being removed from site without a clear timeline for returning to the project. While others are struggling with being on the job and dealing with the uncertainty at home that has come with the COVID-19 crisis. I want all the members to know that the Union Officers and Staff will continue to provide service and help as we are able. Additionally, there is help for our members through the Construction Employee & Family Assistance Program (CERAP). They are set up for counselling and other services both online and over the phone. They can be contacted at www.homewoodhealth.com or 1-800-663-1142. For those who are having financial difficulty some of the banks are providing relief on mortgage payments, and all the major credit card companies have announced programs to help people through the financial uncertainty. Contact your lending institution to find out more.

Lastly, if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and contact Health Link at 811. With some patience, prevention, and understanding we will get through this situation and be back to normal shortly.

In Solidarity
Kevin Lecht
