Good day Union Family Members
To day the trustees of the Health and Welfare plan met for our quarterly meeting.
The question came up about the $400-dollar Health Spending Account (HAS) and what would happen if a member is not able to complete the Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) in time due to the closure of the WOW center and all not critical lab tests and x-rays being canceled due to COVID-19. Under normal circumstances the member would not receive the for the year if they do not have a valid PFT. However, the trustees past a motion that the HSA will be provided to members that are due for their PFT this year as long as the PFT is completed by December 31, 2020.
Members will receive their reminder notices as normal with the date that the PFT will expire and we encourage the members if able to complete the PFT as close to the two-year cut off as possible. However, with this extension members should be able to have some relief until the situation gets back to normal.
If you have any questions, please contact the Health and Welfare administrator or I at the Edmonton Union hall. (780) 426-2874

Good day Union Family Members,
On March 17, 2020 the Province of Alberta declared a public heath emergency under the Public Health Act. This has resulted in new recommendations to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. To find out more visit https://www.alberta.ca/coronavirus-info-for-albertans.aspx
Currently Local 110 is able to stay open, but we will be taking additional steps to ensure the health of our Members, Staff and Officers. The office will continue with wipe downs of all touch point surfaces. Staff are segregated into individual offices to increase social distancing. Starting tomorrow, Thursday March 19, 2020 our office will be closed to the Public as well as Members. The Staff and Officers will continue to be at work and will conduct business through phone calls and emails. If it is absolutely necessary for you to come to the Union office during this time you will be required to make an appointment by calling (780) 426-2874.
The Business Agents and I can be contacted at the Union office at (780) 426-2874 or by email;
Business Manager: Kevin Lecht kevinl@insulators110.com
Northern Business Agent: Doug Casemore dougc@insulators110.com
Southern Business Agent: Derek Stock dereks@insulators110.com
Central Business Agent: Stacy Edmondson stacye@insulators110.com
I understand that this is an increasingly stressful time. A large number of our members are being removed from site without a clear timeline for returning to the project. While others are struggling with being on the job and dealing with the uncertainty at home that has come with the COVID-19 crisis. I want all the members to know that the Union Officers and Staff will continue to provide service and help as we are able. Additionally, there is help for our members through the Construction Employee & Family Assistance Program (CERAP). They are set up for counselling and other services both online and over the phone. They can be contacted at www.homewoodhealth.com or 1-800-663-1142. For those who are having financial difficulty some of the banks are providing relief on mortgage payments, and all the major credit card companies have announced programs to help people through the financial uncertainty. Contact your lending institution to find out more.
Lastly, if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and contact Health Link at 811. With some patience, prevention, and understanding we will get through this situation and be back to normal shortly.

Good afternoon Brothers & Sisters,
In light of the most recent recommendations by the Alberta Government and the Chief Medical Officer of Health to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Local 110 will continue serving its Membership by remaining OPEN at this time.
However, we are asking that the Members please take precautionary measures and conduct Union business over the phone as much as possible. Social distancing and restricting personal contact are important steps we all need to be taking to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to protect others and ourselves.
You can contact your Business Agent or myself by phone at the Union halls or by email:

Good day Union Family Members
Over the last week, you may have noticed the posting on the Local 110 dispatch page looking for resumes for a new Client, Contractor Liaison (CCL). This is a difficult position within our Local due to it encompassing a number of different positions. It requires the individual to be incredibly self-motivated and develop skills that are outside the norm for most tradespeople.
Local 110 has been fortunate to have had Member Brandon Hammond filling this position since January 2017. Brandon has been a constant professional, representing Local 110 with Government relations, Client Liaison meetings, a number of industry boards, on top of his day to day organizing duties. Unfortunately, for our membership, Brandon has decided to take a position with another organization. Although he will be missed, Local 110 is grateful for the contribution made to our organization and wish him all the best in future.
