Local 110 is sad to announce the passing of Brother Robert Hendrickson – Update

Local 110 is sad to announce that Member Robert Hendrickson has passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
Brother Robert has been a member of Local 110 since 1980.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kensington Commons Church, 2404 Kensington Rd NW Calgary AB, on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca

Please take note of Local 110 Bylaws Section 19- all requirements of this section must be met before being issued membership in Local 110.
Section 19 – Membership
19.1 Any Member who applies to join Local 110, if accepted, will pay an initiation fee in the amount of one hundred dollars ($100.00), excepting that:
Those Members who lapse out of the union will pay an additional amount of money which equals the amount owed for union dues and fines at the time of lapsing. This amount must be paid in full prior to vote of acceptance by the general membership. A $200.00 reinstatement fee, to reinstate their membership will be paid at the time of New Member Orientation.
19.2 Any individual that makes application to Local 110 and is rejected by vote of the membership.
- First rejection they will not be able to make new application for a minimum 3 calendar months.
- Second rejection they will not be able to make new application for a minimum of 6 calendar months.
- Third or more rejections they will not be able to make new application for a minimum of 12 calendar months.
19.3 All new Members, including Members who are transferring their membership to Local 110, must complete New Member Orientation within 180 days from the date they were voted into Local 110 or their membership is void and they will have to reapply for membership.
19.4 New Member Orientation will be held in Edmonton and Calgary once every month and Fort McMurray once every two months.
19.5 Permit members and Travel Card Members requesting membership will not receive their union card and Local 110 will not accept a transfer card, until after the Member has taken the oath of membership referred to in the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Constitution at New Member Orientation.

NABTU FUNDS $100,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT DEGREE
Scholarships Available Fall 2018 and Spring/Summer 2019 Semesters Apply Now for Fall Semester 2018 North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) is offering 14 scholarships to cover tuition for the entire first year of a Bachelor of Arts in Construction Management online from Rowan University. These $7,200 scholarships will be available to working members from each of NABTU’s affiliated unions who enroll in the Rowan University Construction Management Program. “NABTU is all about creating pathways, and this online degree at Rowan is helping us open more career pathways for our building trades members – particularly those interested in earning bachelor degrees,” said NABTU President Sean McGarvey. Rowan’s Bachelor of Arts in Construction Management, created in 2016 in cooperation with NABTU, is offered through the University’s Division of Global Learning & Partnerships. This fully online program brings the classroom to apprentices, journeypersons and other industry professionals across the country seeking advancement to project management level positions and beyond. As NABTU seeks to strengthen enrollment and recruit more students into the program, it is offering this new enhanced scholarship program to make this degree more affordable and accessible for its members. Local 110 is sad to announce that Member Dwight Carpenado has passed away on Tuesday July 24, 2018, 2018. Brother Dwight has been a Local 110 member for 43 years.
No service will be held.
